Something remarkable happens each day at the Solomon Schechter Academy. It happens to every child and to every teacher. Jewish knowledge and general knowledge meet in a very special way, not side by side, but as full partners, as influences upon each other. Each is enhanced by contact with the other.

We encourage our youngsters to care about each other; cross-grade friendships abound. We pride ourselves on our feelings of family. This strong sense of belonging and acceptance helps develop individuality and self esteem.

ADMISSION POLICY

Solomon Schechter Academy (SSA) of New London is an egalitarian, Conservative Jewish Day School that serves children in grades Pre-K-6 from a variety of Jewish affiliations, including children from families not affiliated with a specific Jewish religious movement. While the Conservative movement and its affiliated congregations recognize a Jew as someone who was born to a Jewish mother, or who converts to Judaism in accordance with Jewish law and tradition, SSA welcomes any child who identifies as Jewish and who has at least one Jewish parent. We remain committed to providing the best possible Jewish and secular education for the greatest number of Jewish students by encompassing the broader Jewish community.
